Products are made from cellulose pulp, acquired from rapidly renewable raw materials of plant origin. Impermeability is ensured thanks to a biopolymer layer (PLA), which, same as the main structure component, comes from natural source, is biodegradable and compostable.
What is biodegradability?
Biodegradability is the ability to be completely metabolized by microorganisms (biotic agents) such as bacteria, fungi or algae. Apart from living organisms, sunlight, water and oxygen contribute to biodegradation. However, the concept of biodegradable materials should not be confused with the so-called ‘oxo-degradable’ materials. The latter term applies to plastic materials containing additives which, under the influence of oxidation, lead to their decomposition. However, they are not materials that undergo an environmentally friendly transformation into water, carbon dioxide, energy and biomass. Biodegradability means an environmentally friendly decomposition.
